How to merge PDFs on an iPhone.
Choose your PDFs, arrange the files, then save one combined document. If your iPhone includes Apple’s Preview app, you also have a native option.

- Prepare your files. Save your PDFs in the Files app, or another location available in the system file picker. Make sure cloud files have finished downloading.
- Choose PDF files. Open the merger and tap the file button. Select PDFs in the picker; if it permits only one selection, choose one, then use + Add PDFs for the next.
- Arrange the files. Use the up/down arrow buttons. Each preview shows the first page. All pages in the first file come before all pages in the next.
- Merge. Enter an output filename and tap Merge PDFs. Keep the tab open while it works.
- Save your result. Tap Download PDF. Depending on the browser, the file may download or open in a preview. If a preview opens, use Share → Save to Files and choose a folder. Open the saved PDF to confirm it.
Phone file pickers, download menus and available memory vary by iOS and browser version. The layout is checked in simulated mobile browser viewports; physical iPhone selection and saving still need verification. The native controls may look different on your phone.
Apple Preview: a native alternative
If Preview is available on your iPhone, Apple documents a way to insert another PDF into the open document:
- Open a copy of the first PDF in Preview.
- Tap the page count to show page thumbnails.
- Touch and hold a page thumbnail, then choose Insert from File.
- Choose the PDF to insert. Check the thumbnails and reorder the pages as needed.
Make a copy first if you want to keep the original unchanged. App availability and menu labels depend on the version installed. See Apple’s official Preview page instructions for the current native workflow.
If something goes wrong
- The browser reloads or the merge stops: try fewer and smaller files. Start with no more than 5 files, 30 pages and 20 MB total; large scans can need much more memory than their file size.
- A cloud PDF will not open: download a local copy in Files first, then choose it again.
- A document is rejected: password protection, interactive forms and signature fields require a dedicated PDF app. The other valid files remain in your queue.
- You cannot find the result: check the download location or use Save to Files from the opened PDF. “Ready to download” means the PDF was generated; it does not confirm a saved file.
